How can I order my permit?
We strongly recommend ordering your permit online before your visit. When ordering online, you can choose to have your permit mailed or select “Pickup in Old Forge” or “Pickup in Inlet.” Ordering ahead for pickup is the fastest way to get your permit when you arrive and helps you avoid waiting for an available computer at the Information Center.

Can I order online and pay when I get there?
Yes. You may complete your application online and select “Pay in Person.” If paying by credit card, it is faster and easier to pay when you place your online order. Cash and check payments will be accepted beginning in early October. To receive the $80 pre-season price, payment must be received by November 15, 2026.

Where can I get a paper application?
Online applications are strongly encouraged. The online application is faster, easier and ensures you are using the most current form. If you are unable to apply online, please do not use previously downloaded or saved applications, as older versions may no longer be accepted. A current printable application is available here:

Do you offer a one-day or weekend permit?
No. The shortest permit available is a 7-Day Permit for $55, valid for seven consecutive days.

I ordered my permit. When will it arrive?
Permits ordered during SnoFest or over the summer will begin mailing in early October. After mailing begins, please allow approximately 7–10 business days for delivery. Beginning in early October, you may also order online and select “Pickup in Old Forge” or “Pickup in Inlet” for in-person pickup.

I'm getting a new snowmobile and won't have my VIN before November 15. Can I still get the pre-season price?
Yes! Complete your online application by November 15 and enter “VIN PENDING” in the VIN field. We will hold your permit until you provide the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). A VIN must be provided before the permit can be issued.

I ordered my permit but never received it. What should I do?
If you ordered before October, please remember that permits do not begin mailing until early October. Once mailing has begun, please allow up to two weeks for delivery. If your permit still has not arrived, call the Old Forge Visitor Information Center at 315-369-6983, ext. 0.

I received my permit but lost it. Can it be replaced?
Lost permit stickers cannot be replaced. Keep the paperwork provided with your permit in your snowmobile. If your sticker is lost, you may ride with the paperwork containing your permit information. Damaged stickers may be replaced if the old permit is returned

Can I transfer my permit to a new snowmobile?
Yes. A permit may be transferred one time to a new snowmobile. Bring the original permit sticker and paperwork to the Old Forge or Inlet Information Center, along with the new snowmobile information. The original permit must be turned in before a replacement can be issued.

The snowmobile I'm riding isn't registered to me. Whose information should I put on the permit application?
The permit application should match the New York State snowmobile registration. Enter the registered owner's information as it appears on the NYS registration, even if someone else will be riding the snowmobile.

PARKING, MAPS & GETTING AROUND

Where can I park my truck and trailer?
Day visitors may park trucks and trailers at the Hiltebrant Recreation Center parking lot on North Street. Beginning after Snodeo, overnight trailer-only parking is available in the upper parking lot behind the Recreation Center. Tow vehicles may not be left in the overnight trailer parking area. Trailers must be removed approximately one week before SnoFest in March.

Where can I get a trail map?

Printed trail maps are available at the Old Forge and Inlet Information Centers and at many local businesses. Maps can also be mailed prior to your visit by calling the Old Forge Visitor Information Center at 315-369-6983, ext. 0. Digital trail information is also available through NYSSA.

How can I get around town on my snowmobile?
NYS Route 28 (Main Street) and the TOBIE Trail are CLOSED to snowmobile traffic. Snowmobiles may use designated snowmobile access routes, including the groomed sidewalk on the north side of Route 28 in Thendara to Middle Branch Road and the designated north-side sidewalk route from North Street to Grove Trail. Town roads, with the exception of NYS Route 28, are open to snowmobile traffic for access to the trail system unless otherwise posted. Always obey posted signs and designated snowmobile routes.

REGISTRATION & REQUIREMENTS

Do I need both a trail permit and a New York State snowmobile registration?
Yes. To ride the Towns of Webb & Inlet trail system, you need both a valid New York State snowmobile registration and a valid Towns of Webb & Inlet Snowmobile Trail Permit. A NYS registration does not replace the local trail permit.

Do the Towns of Webb & Inlet participate in New York's free snowmobile weekend?
No. New York State may waive its registration requirement for eligible out-of-state snowmobilers during designated free snowmobiling weekends; however, the Towns of Webb & Inlet Trail Permit is still required to ride our trail system.

Do I need liability insurance?
Yes. Snowmobiles operated on the Towns of Webb & Inlet trail system and/or public roads must have liability insurance as required by New York State law.

How old do you have to be to operate a snowmobile?
Ages 14–17: May ride without adult supervision after completing a NYS-recognized Snowmobile Safety Course.
Ages 10–13: Must complete a recognized safety course and be accompanied by someone at least 18 years old who remains within 500 feet.
Under 10: May operate a snowmobile only on land owned or leased by their parent or guardian.
